Movement Education
An education program that develops the child's motor development, body awareness, and movement coordination through play.
Movement Education is a structured education program that aims to develop children's gross and fine motor skills, body awareness, balance and coordination capacities, spatial orientation skills, and rhythmic movement abilities. Physical development is one of the cornerstones of a child's cognitive, social, and emotional development. As Önce Special Education, we offer individual and group movement education programs for children with special needs and those in need of motor development support at our center in Pendik, Istanbul.
Our movement education program implemented at our Pendik center is designed in accordance with the child's developmental age and motor skill level. Basic movement skills (walking, running, jumping, climbing, throwing, catching), balance and coordination exercises, body schema studies, movement with rhythm and music, and free and structured play activities are among the components of our program. During training, the child's motivation and enjoyment are prioritized; motor skills are developed in a natural and fun environment using a play-based approach.
At our center located in Pendik, Istanbul, movement education is carried out in cooperation with special education specialists and physiotherapists. We serve children who need support in movement skills due to motor development delay, coordination disorder, hypotonia (low muscle tone), autism, Down syndrome, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Frequently Asked Questions
For which age group is movement education suitable?
Movement education can be applied to children in all age groups starting from age 2. Activities are adapted according to the child's age and developmental level. Programs suitable for different age groups are available at our Pendik center.
Is movement education different from physiotherapy?
Movement education focuses more on supporting developmental motor skills, coordination, and body awareness with an educational approach. Physiotherapy, on the other hand, is usually aimed at muscle strength, joint mobility, and rehabilitation with a medical indication. Both programs can be planned together when necessary.
Can my child with motor development delay benefit from movement education?
Yes, motor development delay is one of the most fundamental indications for movement education. Children's motor skills are developed and the gap with peers is tried to be closed through structured and systematic movement education.
How do movement education sessions go?
Sessions are structured with play-based and fun activities. Children work with equipment such as obstacle courses, ball games, trampoline, and balance board. Each session includes warm-up, core activity, and cool-down sections. The child's enjoyment and motivation are prioritized.
