Early Childhood Intervention
An early intervention program that supports development in the first years of life, providing a strong start to the future.
Early Childhood Intervention Program is a comprehensive program aiming to support development by intervening in the earliest period in case of developmental delay risk or diagnosis in infants and young children aged 0-6 years. Appropriate education and therapy support provided in the first years of life, when brain plasticity is highest, has the potential to permanently and positively affect the child's developmental results. As Önce Special Education, our multidisciplinary team specialized in early intervention offers individual programs supporting all developmental areas of infants and young children at our center in Pendik, Istanbul.
Our early childhood intervention program implemented at our Pendik center accepts infants and children referred by developmental pediatrics, neurology, genetics, or child psychiatry. Our early intervention program comes into play in conditions such as prematurity, low birth weight, genetic syndromes (Down syndrome, etc.), cerebral palsy, autism risk, language delay, and global developmental delay. The program consists of early period special education, language and communication support, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and family coaching components.
Our early intervention program serving in Pendik, Istanbul, adopts a family-centered approach. Moving from the principle that the baby's development is best supported in their natural environment (home, family interaction), families are positioned as active partners of the program. Our therapists teach families strategies that support development within daily care routines. This approach makes it possible to maintain the effect of therapy 24/7. In today's world, where early intervention is supported by more and more scientific evidence, we act with a "now and here" approach instead of "wait and see."
Who Is It For?
- Premature or low birth weight infants carrying developmental delay risk
- Babies born with diagnoses like Down syndrome, cerebral palsy
- 0-3 age babies showing motor development delay
- Young children with detected delay in language and communication development
- Infants and children showing autism risk or early symptoms
- 0-6 age children diagnosed with or suspected of global developmental delay
How Does It Work?
Comprehensive developmental evaluation: measurement of all developmental areas with Bayley, Denver, or similar standard tools.
Family meeting: determining the baby's medical history, family dynamics, and daily routines.
Creation of an individualized early intervention plan (IEIP) by the multidisciplinary team.
Intervention targeting developmental areas in weekly individual sessions: special education, language therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy.
Teaching developmental supportive strategies that can be integrated into daily routines in family coaching sessions.
Updating the program with monthly developmental tracking and three-month comprehensive evaluations.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should early intervention start?
The earlier it starts, the more effective results are achieved. Infants who have risk factors from birth (prematurity, genetic syndrome, etc.) should be evaluated as soon as possible. Families feeling developmental anxiety can apply at any age. Early evaluation instead of "wait and see" is always recommended.
Will the early intervention program tire my baby?
Our early intervention program is dosed according to the baby's age, endurance, and individual needs. Sessions are kept short, applied play-based, and planned in accordance with the baby's wakefulness-feeding cycle. Ensuring the baby experiences an enjoyable experience is our priority.
What is the role of the family in early intervention?
The family is at the center of early intervention. Our therapists teach families practical strategies to support the baby's development during daily care routines (feeding, bathing, dressing, playing). The active participation of the family multiplies the impact of therapy.
When are the results of the early childhood intervention program seen?
Results vary according to the child's diagnosis, starting level, and intensity of intervention. In many families, developmental progress is observed within the first 3-6 months. Progress is tracked objectively with regular assessments and reported to the family.
Can we participate in the early intervention program from outside Pendik?
Yes, families from many districts on the Anatolian side of Istanbul can apply to our center. Easy transportation can be provided from Tuzla, Kartal, Maltepe, Sultanbeyli, Gebze, and surrounding regions. Suitability of age and diagnosis criteria is sufficient for participation in the early intervention program.
